Art, Architecture and Acoustics are inexorably intertwined. All Art has a scientific root alongside it’s creative core. The enjoyment and study of art leads us to non-linear pathways of thought and consequently abstract concepts. These abstractions are often the key to new concepts. What once was called “out of the box” thinking is now essential to the basis of innovation. There is no box. Humans created the box and by staying within any set of rules created by Humans we are limited to the things we understand.
Innovation is about discovering and learning what we don’t understand. This means going beyond the knowledge of mankind.
Art taps into a part of the brain and pyshce which is more abstract, less confined by boundaries and defined by expression rather than by rules. This is where discovery and innovation live. The capacity to think that anything is possible, that the universe was not made by mankind, that only by being open to new ideas can we begin to fathom even just the tip of the iceberg of universal knowledge.
Musicians who live in this space understand the need for technique and the essence of expression. Only with a basis of technique can they begin to allow a truly free, unconstrained form of expression. This basis of knowledge, study, practice and creation is at the core of our design process.
Art fuels creativity and creativity fuels Art. Both require a basis of skill, knowledge and technique, yet all the skill, knowledge and technique in the world won’t create Art or Innovation.
Years of study in acoustics and architecture across a wide variety of professionals from a diverse set of backgrounds, countries and cultures and the only common mode is that Nature is the greatest inspiration of all.
