Platinum Studios

When the owner of a Vincent Van Haaf Studio invited us to evolve his space to a new level, we were both humbled and honored.  With respect for our dear departed colleague’s work, the ethos of DHDI was to respect the original design mentality and aesthetic, while designing improvements to clarity, imaging and low frequency control.

One the most important elements of Phase 1 was to preserve the visual aesthetic of the interiors, which has been inspirational and vibey to musicians and owner alike. The Control Room was designed with Corvette Red and Blue Sky Clouds to evoke the feeling of cruising down the road in a convertible on a sunny day. To increase acoustical performance with Zero visual or aesthetic changes, there was only one choice.   ZR Cloaks.

Essentially invisible, ZR Cloaks wrapped around the PMC Studio Monitors with a sleek, slim 1.25” profile. Yet despite their sleek profile, they are inbued with high performance quantum acoustics.  Clarity was far greater, definition had far more detail, the traditional 1 foot cube sweet spot grew to 9 square feet and the low frequency tightened up and had a greater extension frequency.  All this with Zero impact on the room’s interiors and Zero impact on floor space.

The ZR Cloaks succeeded in creating a larger sense of air, expanding the imaging to be more spacious, flushing out the experience of driving a convertible outside under the big blue sky.
