Laguna Beach’s financial powerhouse overlooks the vast pacific ocean. A clean, bright, boardroom with hardwood floors, WCM’s primary boardroom is both a financial hub and an enjoyable architectural environment.
Abundant natural sunlight floods the room thanks to opulent windows and large glass doors. Truly an iconic Southern California location.
The Challenge: start with a room which sounds like a fishbowl and convert it into a pleasant, cozy sounding space for conversation, zoom calls and meetings with colleagues from around the world. The client’s vision was to preserve the look and feel of the space without any changes to the architecture or interiors, while dramatically improving both the low intelligibility acoustics and overbearing natural daylight of the environment.
DHDI’s solution was a confluence of interior design and Quantum Acoustics. Exactingly photographed and printed onto ZR devices using Visual Acoustics technology, the ceiling is aesthetically identical to the original, only made inaudible by ZR Acoustics SR24+’s. Intelligibility increased over 300%, decay times were more than halved and reverberation minimized.
All horizontal reflections are eradicated by a custom design layout of ZR SR8+’s and SR24+’s . The oceanfront view, spanning three large windows and four sliding glass doors are rendered acoustically inaudible by custom ZR Draperies imbued with ZR QuanTex Technology. They are designed with textiles which allow only 35% of natural daylight to pass, while simultaneously controlling 100% of sound reflections. Remotely controlled on smooth, silent Lutron Sivoia shades, the ZR Draperies are elegant, aesthetic with over 200,000 Non-Parallel Surfaces per square foot. (200,000 NPS/Sq.Ft.)
The final result is identical to the original in every way with dramatic acoustic and lighting improvements. Clear intelligibility, decreased decay times, minimized reverberation and excellent acoustics transformed the space into an excellent meetings space for large groups of people or remote zoom calls. The Ultra-Thin ZR Drapery (1.6mm) dramatically improved the acoustics of the environment while simultaneously reducing and diffusing the natural daylight to create perfect lighting for presentation displays. WCM enters the age of Quantum Acoustics with custom drapery embedded with ZR QuanTex and perfect control of Southern California’s iconic Sunsets.
